Ben,
I agree with what Cheryl said. Also for me, it is a matter of loving to
tell the story, to get it out there and know it might have some sort of
impact on the community.
I think it is summed up in several quotes I love about journalism:
"Tell the people the truth, and the country will be free."
--Abraham Lincoln
"Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its
greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of
wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air."
--Henry Anatole Grunwald
Memory is the personal journalism of the soul.
Richard Schickel
I think those sum it up better than the words I would need to search my soul
deeply for to describe why I love journalism so much.

hi folks
So that's why it takes me so long to read one digest. If mailman happens
to read this I would like instructions on how to recieve individual
postings. The general consensis is thats the most eficient way to read this
discussion group.
Graham, you mentioned you used an old typewriter and often had to start
over. The patience and dedication this would have required makes me
respect you and others who started way back when.
I would like to submit a topic for discussion.
What do you enjoy about your job that makes all the extra challenges
worth it?
This question is not so much for my labor market research study, but for
my own edification. What drives your passion to write and report?
If any of you who have offer to assist me has a preference for time to
interview, please let me know in this forum or on my personal Email.

I also had a question for everett. You wrote previously that you have
written poems, articles, along with blogging. You seem to have an interest
in independent journalism. Are you currently attending school, or is it more
of a hobby? Do you intend to persue this career? I only ask because I
enjoy your postings.
Well, I've got to run. I only have computer access at the library and
it is about to close. Hopefully after completing my labor market research
study Voc rehab will be able to change my limited access.
Look forward to your responses.
Happy Writing!
Ben
