			Dear AnneMarie,

At the risk of receiving gentle criticism from my kindly colleagues, 
I will say that I at first viewed the Taiwan photographic odyssey as 
a lark. I laughed at it, thought it was a big joke, although I 
certainly would have balked if they'd actually wanted to put some 
dumb out-of-focus stuff by me in the paper. It was bad enough the 
time when we rented a boat for a Saginaw Bay trip and the photog took 
a picture of me sunning, my whole body extended, on a bench that 
could have seated two people. It was like photographing, well, 
almost, a beached whale, except I'm not fat or anything. It was 
embarrassing.
