Hello,
The criteria for winning the $5k cash prize below says
it is for, "the most insightful and enterprising
reporting on
the basic biomedical sciences in print or broadcast
journalism."
So, would writing about the truths of blindness be
considered "innovative?" I think so, as so many seem
to be stuck with the old-line thoughts of what
blindness is or was. I'd bet that writing about some
innovation in the field of vision, such as the "bionic
eye" or numerous other things to get the reader's
attention and then throwing in some "revelations" on
the truths of blindness, would be eligible for this
award and cash prize. So give it a go why don't you?

during the award year. Deadline February 29, 2008. A
certificate
and cash prize of $5,000 will be presented to the
winner.
Up to five stories from an individual journalist or
team of
journalists may be submitted as an entry.
