As it stands, mental patients don't have access to adequate
insurance/health care.
New York recently passed Timothy's Law, which addresses this issue. Might
be a good thing to research. A young man committed suicide because he
couldn't get his health insurance to pay for his mental health treatment. The
National Association of Social Workers (NY chapter) worked to get this law
passed--not alone, I'm sure--and it recently has been, so that health insurance can
address this issue in New York.
