[Journalists] Digital cameras?

Hi all. More on the camera question.

I am blind in my dominant eye (the one I used to use to look through the
lens hole while closing the other). So most of my pics are taken using the
method Lori describes. I have found that autofocus and autoflash truly can
be your best friend. Something else ... because I can't see what I'm
shooting, I snap A LOT MORE FRAMES than I used to. No more "waiting for the
right moment" or "the perfect smile." Takes up more space on your card (or
more film, depending) but the result is that there are a lot of very cool
moments that might not ordinarily have been captured.

Hi, Cheryl.
My husband is totally blind, and has been known to take better pictures than
I do.  To avoid getting shots of the sky, make sure the bottom of the camera
is parallel to the ground, and don't let the lens tilt upwards.  It should
be horizontal.  Try resting the camera against your chest to correct the
angle.  Stand at least five feet away from your subject, and point the lens
towards his/her voice.  This should work.

Hello. I read with interest the question
about digital cameras for point-and-shoot work. I wonder if any of
you who are totally blind have done any point-and-shoot photography.
I've always wanted to have somebody go out shooting with me and see
how I could aim my camera at people's voices and get really cool
over-exposed shots of people's heads and the sky. I just wonder if it
can be done.
