Summary of Duties
Assumes responsibility to the Editors for solicitation and preparation of
manuscripts for delivery to typesetter and printer; acts as liaison with
authors
in evaluation process and in revision of manuscripts, and with evaluators
and reviewers of submitted materials; acts as liaison with publisher,
typesetter,
and printer in production of materials; generates and maintains
correspondence related to authors, editors, and publisher; supervises
permissions requirements
for publication; copies edits scholarly and other submitted materials for
form and content; verifies documentation; styles text and documentation to
house
standards; proofs in-house copy, blue lines, and other proofs; communicates
with contributors; maintains database of publications; monitors flow of
submissions,
preparing regular updates for editor and boards; maintains record-keeping
system, filing information, and correspondence; assumes responsibility for
communicating
needs for necessary equipment and supplies; monitors financial records for
publication expenses; trains and supervises editorial assistants/support
staff;
and performs others duties as assigned.
Additional Information

least three references.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field or an equivalent
combination of education and experience; experience in an editorial
capacity, including
knowledge of writing, editing, graphic arts, printing and the various
methods of publishing; excellent verbal and written communication skills,
and good
organizational skills and the ability to work independently, prioritize
tasks and meet deadlines; and ability to manage and work well with Institute
staff
and students.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
demonstrated commitment to and familiarity with racial and ethnic issues.
Target Salary
$45,000 - $51,000 Annually
