[Journalists] My new article.

Hi,
If you reread my message, I said that I got almost that far myself, by
guesswork. My confusion was exacerbated by the fact that I thought Alan
meant us to believe that the link he provided went directly to his article
but, not finding the article on the page that came up when I clicked on the
provided link, I then guessed that I might need to click on the current
issue link, and then maybe I'd find his byline on the resulting page.

But as I said, what I got when I clicked on Current Issue was basically an
index page with a list of headlines, section by section, none with bylines,
and since I had no knowledge that the article happened to be the one about
drought issues, I was no more likely to click on its headline than any
others, lacking anything to tell me that it was Alan's article.

So, no, I'm not sure how you found it without being told its topic or its
headline, and I'd like to improve my ability to navigate this sort of online
situation.

Thanks very much,
Sy

Hello Sy,

I found the article by going to the daily nebraskan's current issue
link. The story is about a professor's speech on drought concerns.

Hope this helps.

Maybe Alan could post some of his stories to the list.

Hi,

first of all, congratulations to Alan on his continuing contribution to
this
paper. But I'm having trouble finding the article. When I click on the
link
provided, what I seem to get is a home page, not an article. I did a
Jaws
Find for "Wheeler" on that page, but nothing came up. Then I found a
link
for accessing only the current issue. So I clicked on that, and on the
resulting page did find a list of articles in the day's issue, but
without
bylines attached to them. And since Alan hadn't said what the topic or
headline of his piece was, I wasn't any farther ahead.

Now, reading the message below, I see that I could go back to the site
and
do the same things I did, and then click on the article listing having
to do
with drought. But I'm sure this can't be the right way to find the
article
when given the link Alan pasted into the post to the list.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Sy Glass

Hi Alan and listers!!

Alan, thanks for posting the link to your article. I've covered the
water issue in Texas, and I am glad to see that you are writing about
the similar drought concerns in Nebraska.

I thought your story read pretty well. The only thing I would change is
the lede which should have focused on the professor saying there is a
need for Nebraskans to plan for future droughts. You could have
identified the professor and the drought seminar in the second
paragraph.

Okay, this is just my opinion!!

Thanks

Liz

Good morning everyone,
This link is good for today, but starting early tomorrow morning it will
change and you'll need to hit the archive page of the Daily Nebraskan to
find it.
