  This is a Full-Time, Permanent, Exempt, Classified position (may include
promotion, transfer or demotion).

Job Duties:

Plans and directs one segment of the agency’s information program and is
responsible for the development and maintenance of an electronic news room
and

dissemination of agency’s statewide efforts to the media, legislators, the
general public and employers: develops news releases for dissemination;
writes

news stories, guest columns, letters to the editor, and fact sheets;
interviews subjects and writes features, and news stories for external
publications;

designs and places ads about RSC services in external event programs and
other printed media; takes photographs, performs graphic design, layout
work;

proofreads and edits articles written by others; provides assistance to
agency staff in preparation of informational materials for external use;
assists

in disseminating information to staff and other interested parties (e.g.
legislative issues).

Advises and consults with executive and other staff regarding marketing and
public relations issues; assists with agency special projects as required;
advises

and consults with staff regarding media contacts; serves on agency
committees and assists other agency departments in public relations and/or
marketing

advisory capacity; responds to telephone or written inquiries; gives
presentations; prepares research and analysis to develop new marketing
products such

as event displays, brochures, videos, etc.

Represents agency at related events: performs other duties related to agency
public information & relations (e.g., assists in planning of agency public

events); coordinates media contacts & arranges events in conjunction with
other appropriate staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Completion of undergraduate core program in journalism or communication; 6
mos. exp. in public multi-media techniques and relations in field of
journalism

or communication; valid driver’s license.

- Or 30 mos. exp. in field of journalism or communication dealing in public
multi-media techniques and relations, public speaking, news writing,
reporting

and editing or technical report translation and communication dealing in
public meetings; valid driver’s license;

- Or 12 mos. exp. as Public Information Specialist, 64420; valid driver’s
license

- Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

transcript (copies acceptable) to document any advanced levels of education.

Ohio Revised Code Section 124.151 (B) amended makes it mandatory that

Supplemental Employment Agreement stating that if they are subject to a

Rehabilitation Services Commission has in place a Clean Air/Smoking Policy
that prohibits smoking in all offices and state vehicles. This policy
