[Jobs] Disabled People Need Not APPLY

Jim, and others:
I probably shouldn't answer this, but ... First, discussion of
politics, political candidates, blindness politics etc., are really
off topic for this list. We sponsor other lists where such
discussion is more appropriate.
Secondly, I think it is naive of you to think that blindness
organizations should "unite." After all, the ACB came about because
people disagreed with the NFB and went off to start another
organization. While we can and should come together on specific
issues -- like employment, it is unrealistic to expect us to unite on
everything. Sighted persons have the right to disagree, and start
rival organizations -- why shouldn't we.
Politicians often say, you blind guys go off and decide what you
want, then we will consider it. This is inappropriate, they don't do
this with other issues. If, for example they were considering
legislation to increase the minimum wage, labor would probably be for
it, and some employers against it. The politicians wouldn't say to
these groups, you all go off and decide what you want to do, them
come back to us. It would be inappropriate. It is the politicians
job to weigh different considerations and decide. It is true of blindness too.
