Job Summary
This position exists to increase public knowledge of Sun Sounds of
Arizona,
a service of Rio Salado College, and its work in the community. Prepares
articles for publication to promote and reflect the goals of Sun Sounds
of
Arizona, maintains contacts with Maricopa District personnel. Sun Sounds
of
Arizona personnel statewide and locally, administrators, the media,
sponsors, affiliated partners and agencies, and the public; prepares,
writes
and edits articles for publication; coordinates photography, design and
develops formats; coordinates special events and meetings; coordinates a
speakers bureau. 

Essential Functions
65% - Coordinates events, generates sponsorships, coordinates meetings
and
speakers bureau, researches material for articles, ensures photographs
are
taken at events, coordinates production and distribution of mailings and
newsletters. 
20% - Assists supervisor with media placements, printer coordination,
proofreading, marketing budgets; works with webmaster and supervisor on
web
page updates and news stories. 
10% - Works with and coordinates the activities of volunteers assigned
to
marketing and public relations efforts, tracks department progress
toward
meeting marketing goals as outlined in the strategic plan. 
5% - Maintains archives of publicity materials, media coverage;
checks-out
displays and ensures materials distributed are up-to-date. 
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in journalistic and feature writing, vocabulary, grammar
and
syntax
- Demonstrated expertise communicating both orally and in writing with
experience speaking to groups, preparing and editing publications,
meeting
deadlines, working with computers and on-line systems
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS office including Access or similar
softwares Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related
field
- Experience working with volunteers and with people who have
disabilities
- Two years experience in journalistic and feature writing, vocabulary,
grammar and syntax

Special Working Conditions
This position is located at Rio Salado College, Tempe, Arizona. Some
evenings and travel may be required. May require prolonged CRT viewing.
May require lifting 20 1bs.
