Hi Frank,
I read your post with interest. I do not have a job I can offer but I have a suggestion. Since your brother is good wit his hands, perhaps a career as a piano technician would be a good place to look into. Sorry for ending a sentence with a preposition.

My name is Marshall Gisondi. I attend the School of Piano Technology for the Blind here in Vancouver WA. The website for the school I believe is pianotuningschool.org. I apologize that this link doesn't show up, but you can copy and paste it into your browser and then go from there. There is a wealth of information on the site. In fact there is a couple of video clips you can watch as well or audio for someone who is not sighted.

For years I wanted to attend The School of Piano Technology for The Blind, and I'm finally here. The program is the only one of it's kind in the nation. Yes there are other schools, about two actual schools, that specialize in piano technology, but only this one specializes in training the blind and vision impaired to tune and repair pianos. In fact, I'm learning more by using my sense and ability to touch than I ever could trying to use what sight I have. The instructors are incredible. I have a deep care and respect and appreciation for them. There is quite a bit of one on one instruction, class instruction and time to really get to know pianos. The administration and office staff are also ready and willing to help anyone make this happen because they want everyone to succeed in this program. Trust me I know from personal experience.

Now I don't know what your brother is interested in as a career. I also do not know if he has any interest in the piano in general, but I thought I'd send this along to plant a seed of interest. I'm not sure when ,but you can contact them to find out, but they offer a couple day exploration workshop for potential students in order to give them a feel for what they do. Your brother could come out and see first hand what we do, and try some of the things we do like tune a couple of notes, perhaps try out a piano repair etc. It's an awesome opportunity for anyone to come and see first hand for themselves what The School of Piano Technology for the Blind is all about.

This school continues to transform my life in such a way that even my wife enjoys living with me more, and I was already easy to live with, well for the most part. So please visit the website pianotuningschool.org, and see what you think. Feel free to call and ask questions and perhaps schedule a time for him to come out. I'd like to meet him and I'm sure everyone there would too. Take care, and I hope this is helpful.
Marshall
ps. I met someone from Kansas City on here who expressed interest in the School of Piano Technology for the Blind and I lost his number. So if you're out there, please contact me again because I believe I lost your number when I moved out here. I'd like to get you connected with the school as well. I do apologize.
