The Employment Security Department's Human Resource Services Division has
the ways and means to help our clients solve their human resource
challenges.  

 

AGENCY PROFILE:

The Employment Security Department (ESD) is one of the largest executive
agencies in Washington State government.  The mission of the Employment
Security Department is to help Washington's workers and employers succeed in
the global economy by delivering superior employment services, timely
unemployment benefits, and a fair and stable unemployment insurance system. 

HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES DIVISION PROFILE:

The Human Resource Services Division supports the department's mission by
providing operational support in the areas of Payroll, Human Resource
Consulting, Policy Development and Training for all managers, supervisors
and employees of the Employment Security Department.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a member of the Employment Security Department's Human Resources Team,
you will provide expert level consultation in the areas of reasonable
accommodation and equal employment opportunity.  You will review, research,
analyze and resolve complex Reasonable Accommodation cases and other equal
opportunity issues related to employment.  

 

The Reasonable Accommodations/Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist will
interpret and apply federal and state laws and rules, agency policies, and
Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements.  You will negotiate and
mediate settlement of issues, disputes or disagreements.  You will interview
individuals one-on-one or over the telephone, conduct research, analyze the
results, and use sound judgment to determine outcomes.  

 

You will also conduct small and large group presentations on Reasonable
Accommodation processes and other HR/EEO issues.  

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A Bachelor's degree with focus on business, human resources, social or
organizational behavioral sciences, or related field and three years of
broad-based professional human resource experience, including facilitating
organizational development or change, and advising and consulting on human
resource issues

 

OR

 

Equivalent education/experience.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The most successful candidate will have at least three years of professional
experience advising and consulting on human resource, reasonable
accommodations, and/or equal opportunity issues.  Our team is looking for a
critical thinker with demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution
skills.  The ability to develop rapport and be sensitive to stakeholders is
key.  Preference is given to individuals with experience conducting analysis
and problem solving as well as researching and investigating.  Organization
and time management skills are essential.

 

SPHR or PHR certification is preferred.
