Job Description: Successful business-to-business
content company is looking for a full-time staff editor
to manage our newsletters and websites dealing with
employment law and occupational health and safety.

 Staff editor's duties include:

Oversee all editorial content and make sure deadlines
are met
Copyedit and proofread articles and marketing copy
Project-manage the production of newsletters, reports,
and website content
Manage the work product of a virtual team that includes
staff and freelance editors and production
professionals
Write marketing copy and editorial content as needed
Train freelance writers and develop their ability to
find appropriate story ideas and slants, and write in
our established house style
Monitor the fields of human resources, employment law,
and occupational safety and health to expand knowledge,
and attend conferences and maintain memberships in
local organizations when necessary
Monitor legislative and judicial developments to ensure
timely inclusion in publications
Develop ideas for newsletters and reports, as well as
content enhancements and new products

 Requirements:
Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production
environment
Extremely strong verbal and written communication
skills, including skill in editing and proofreading
Ability to handle many simultaneous projects
effectively and hit all deadlines
Experience developing writers: ability to identify
areas needing improvement and effectively deliver
constructive criticism
Familiarity with the fields of employment law and/or
human resources
Strong product/staff management and publishing
experience with a proven track record of at least 5
years

Ideal candidate will have a U.S. law degree and/or an
extensive human resources background.
California-specific experience is a strong plus.

Compensation is $60,000 annually, with full benefits,
including health and dental insurance, and 401(k) with
employer match. Our staff editor will have the choice
of working in our Alameda office, telecommuting, or a
combination of the two. Candidates need not live in
California in order to be considered.
