>Description of Duties:
>Under limited supervision, provides consultative services and technical
>assistance to local school systems regarding appropriate services and
>materials
>for students who are visually impaired or blind. Duties include, but are not
>limited to, assisting local systems with implementing and evaluating special
>education services for students with disabilities; designing evaluation
>procedures; identifying professional learning needs; designing, developing,
>conducting,
>and evaluating professional learning activities; and developing and
>delivering effective presentations. In addition, the program specialist will
>work in
>conjunction with the staff from the GIMC to provide accessible alternative
>format instructional materials to students who have visual impairments, are
>blind, or have other print disabilities.

>Minimum Qualifications:
>Master’s degree in special education and three years of experience in a
>professional education capacity in special education, preferably in the area
>of
>visual impairments and /or accessible materials. Must hold or be eligible
>for Georgia professional educator certification in visual impairments.

>Preferred Qualifications:
>Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the
>minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: • Experience
>in planning,
>designing, and/or implementing training activities • Experience in
>educational program planning, implementation, and evaluation • Expertise in
>interpreting
>the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) • Georgia
