The Professional Development and Research Institute on Blindness at
Louisiana Tech University is currently recruiting students for the
upcoming year. We offer a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with
concentration in Orientation and Mobility (O&M), a Master of Arts in
Teaching Blind Students, and a Master of Science in Curriculum and
Instruction with cognate in Teaching Blind Students (TBS). These are
the only programs in the country that are founded with the Federation
philosophy. The Institute on Blindness does not discriminate against
any applicants and actively recruits people who are blind, sighted, and
of diverse backgrounds.

It is extremely important that blind individuals receive training from
teachers who possess good blindness skills. Teachers of the blind must
believe in the skills they are teaching and in the abilities of blind
people. Members of the National Federation of the Blind who have been
through our graduate programs are excellent teachers because of their
philosophy about blindness. Graduates of our programs are continually
sought after, having numerous employment opportunities upon graduation.

We are looking for individuals who are ready to enter a graduate
program, but we are also interested in speaking with anyone who may want
to pursue a career teaching in the field of blindness in any capacity.
We invite all qualified individuals with positive attitudes about
blindness who desire a meaningful career teaching cane travel or Braille
to blind children or adults to apply for our programs. Funding is
available on a competitive basis for qualified applicants.

For more information, you may also view our brochures online.
