[Jobs] Fw: Teaching enquiry

Hello Mike and listers,

I am not currently teaching, but went through student teaching when I
lived in Wisconsin, as well as being a teacher assistant for a migrant teen
program in Austin, Texas. When I student taught both Spanish and English, I
took everyone's names in Braille, and called out the names out loud. I
usually delegated a student to mark the names on the attendance sheet, as
well as in my co-operating teacher's grade book. I used overhead
transparencies extensively, also, but sometimes I would call on someone to
come up and write something on the board. Now, with Power Point slides, the
board may not be as necessary. When I assisted in the reading classes in the
migrant program, I sometimes took oral attendance for those classes, too.
There was a lot of team teaching during those years. I worked in the migrant
program for four summers. Unfortunately, the program was only during the
summer. I would have loved to work in that setting during the school year
because I liked teaching small classes. I hope this helps your friend.

Mary Donahue

This is an inquiry that I got from a Junior in college. He does not know the
NFB philosophy yet, he is also completely blind, I am still working on him.
However, I would be honored to pass along to him your answers to his
questions.
Thank you very much.

Mike,

I am as you know a History Education major at GSCC, and was
wondering about becoming a teacher. I have a few anxieties that you might
know some remedies to, but I am not sure. What if I give a test, project or
a pop quiz during a class and my students cheat on those test? How would I
check roll on a daily basis? I am thinking of just being a lecture teacher
and let my students take notes from my autotory demonstrations. I wish to
aspire to the hilt of postsecondary education as a History Professor
oneday, so please any and all information will be appreciated.
