VACANT POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION TITLE: Regional Program Coordinator
POSITION DEPT: Outreach Department
POSITION LOCATION: Eastern WA
POSITION GOAL: To provide coordination and direction of
Outreach Services for the blind and visually impaired students and their
local districts.
SALARY: Dependent on qualifications and
experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in the Education of the Blind & Visually
Impaired and /or Special Education
* Certified teacher of blind and visually impaired in Washington
State
* Five years of successful experience teaching blind/visually
impaired within multiple district programs
* Must be able to pass the Braille Literary Usage Exam within
one year of employment
* Evidence of successful supervisory or team leader experience
in school programs
* Evidence of the ability to select, develop, direct and
evaluate staff in accordance with current practices in the field; to
develop and manage an instructional budget; to plan and organize work
* Evidence of excellent communication skills, both oral and
written
* Evidence of solid organization, planning, problem solving and
facilitation skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's Degree in the Education of the Blind & Visually
Impaired
* Experience in Early Childhood Education Programs
* Experience in working directly with families
* Course work and experience in early childhood development and
family counseling
* Evidence of knowledge and skills in educational
administration, school finance, school personnel and other related areas
of regional cooperative operation
GENERAL DUTIES:
* Coordinate services for blind and visually impaired students
within the regional program.
* Provides instructional leadership to regional cooperative
programs.
* Provide and/or facilitate In-service training opportunities.
* Assists school districts in identifying students with vision
services needs.
* Forms collaborative partnerships with all service providers
for blind and visually impaired children.
* Works with other partners to form a seamless service delivery
system within the region (Birth through adult services.)
* Manages regional budget.
* Tracks statistical information as required.
* Keeps informed of laws, regulations, statutes, rules and
policies affecting programs.
* Provides leadership in the development and operation of a
regional cooperative program; including: assessing needs, strategic
planning, working with councils and advisory committees; collaborating
with other WSSB programs and outside programs of shared responsibility.
* Communicates regularly to staff, supervisor, local districts,
families and community on important issues.
* Seeks alternate funding sources; prepares grant requests;
manages grants, including the preparation of program and fiscal reports.
* Provides instructional leadership to the regional cooperative
program.
* Work in concert with local Special Education Director in
coordination for regional services.
* Performs such other tasks and assumes such other
responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
* Provides some direct/consultation services within the region.
