JOB TITLE: EMPLOY-ABILITY NAVIGATOR/Spanish & English Bilingual
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PWI
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The person who holds this position is responsible for helping individuals
with disabilities in the Easter Seals Greater NW Texas Projects with
Industry
(PWI) find competitive, gainful and unsubsidized permanent employment
through careful job matching. This involves working closely with the
individual
seeking employment to identify their strengths and maximize their employment
success. In addition, it involves working closely with employers and other
area service providers to identify job opportunities for the individuals we
serve. So the person responsible for this position is a career developer,
a case manager and a business person: A professional employment consultant
who specializes in employment services for people with disabilities.
Reading,
writing and speaking English and Spanish fluently are requirements for this
position.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Works in partnership with each individual (hereafter referred to as
consumers) on their caseload to enable them to make informed choices
related to
employment and develops a plan toward meeting that goal as described in the
PWI Operations and Procedures Manual (OPM)
Develops relationships with employers to generate employment opportunities
for the consumers in their case load and other consumers served by Easter
Seals
who might be seeking employment
Creatively and effectively uses a variety of job search methods to find
job leads to communicate to qualified job seeking consumers
Works Easter Seals Greater NW Texas Employment Consultants, other PWI
Navigators, WIA-funded DES Navigators, the Youth Navigator and Tarrant
Countys
Workforce Solutions as well as other service providers to identify and
provide the maximum level of benefits and supports to consumers who need
help with
employment
Engages, builds and maintains relationships with all ESGNWT partners
including but not limited to our Business Advisory Council, DARS, Workforce
Solutions,
area chambers of commerce and providers in the Fort Worth Initiatives
consortia of providers
Ensures access to and the participation of unions and organized labor in
PWI activities
Communicates with referral sources
Presents a professional manner, presence and demeanor and dresses
appropriately for conducting business with area partners and businesses at
all times
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the most common physical,
cognitive and emotional disabilities through independent research (books,
industry
journals, internet, professional development courses, etc)
Aids and assists other employment staff when needed
Maintains accurate and orderly case files, both hard copy and electronic
and regular casenotes
Performs other duties as directed by the Director of PWI, VP of Workforce
Development, Executive VP of Operations and President and CEO of Easter
Seals
Related Duties:
Attends ESGNWT staff meetings, Navigator Team meetings, Workforce
Solutions meetings, Workforce Center Meetings and other meetings as directed
by supervisor
Assumes responsibility for project in absence of Director of PWI
Maintains consumer records including but not limited to case notes
Maintains consumer confidentiality
Maintains secures and reports the loss of or improper function of ESGNT,
WFS of Tarrant County and PWI property (as in the work phone or computer or
work cell, etc).
Returns all business phone calls within one working day
Responds promptly to other forms of communication, ie, fax or mail or
email
Submits all paperwork and reports in a timely manner
Conducts job workshops at least bi-monthly at the center where stationed
and other centers as assigned by the Director of PWI
Reads the PWI Operations Manual, The Easter Seals Greater NW Texas
Employee Handbook and conducts business according to the rules and
regulations stated
therein
Flexible: able to work odd hours at times to accommodate employers or
consumers and able to work in a variety of workforce centers and settings
Uses people-first language at all times

Bachelors Degree in human services or related field
Spanish/English bilingual, fluently: read, write, speak
Demonstrated ability to use MS Office software including MS Word, Excel
and Outlook proficiently
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of employment strategies for people with disabilities
Must pass criminal background check
Able to travel in and around Tarrant County to job fairs, Workforce
Centers, consumer homes, businesses on a frequent, sometimes daily basis (to
drive
consumers as is sometimes desired, must present valid drivers license, proof
of insurance and good driving record)
Meet deadlines and make appointments as scheduled

Teaching experience
Out-going personality a plus
Sales experience helpful
