It is likely that if your counselor did not know how to shake hands with a
blind person, he or she did non know how to shake any hand. The hands of the
blind are the same as the hands of the sighted, 4 fingers, a thumb, nails, a
palm attached to a wrist.
In all seriousness now, there are always those who shake hands like they
don't want to have anything to do with anyone. One of my coworkers made a
terrible first impression on me because of said coworker's hand shake.
when shaking hands, no matter if the person is blind, or sighted, one should
approach the other's hand, untill the webs formed by thumb and pointer
fingers meet. Then, how much preasure, and how much motion is involved is a
matter of personal preference, cultural diferences, and yes, level of
inthusiasm.

Who's counselor doesn't think blind people can succeed as language
translators because of the travel involved.
