The U.S. Department of Education's
Office of Innovation and Improvement
(OII) is seeking a new director for the Parental Options and Information (POI) office. POI focuses on public school choice and parental options, including
public charter schools and magnet schools. POI also administers the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides low-income parents in the District
of Columbia with scholarships for their children to attend private schools in Washington, DC.
OII is looking for a highly motivated, creative individual to serve as a supervisory education program specialist to lead this unique and innovative team.
Candidates for this position must have experience working with educational choice programs such as charter schools or magnet schools, at the district,
state or federal level. The closing date for the announcement is January 16, 2008.

OII is the entrepreneurial arm of the
U.S. Department of Education
and includes the Office of Non-Public Education (ONPE), POI and other offices. OII makes strategic investments in innovative educational practices through
two dozen discretionary grant programs and coordinates the public school choice and supplemental educational services provisions of the Elementary and
Secondary Education Act as amended by No Child Left Behind.
