stick with manhattan, you have the bus, subway, long  island rail road. but 
you first have to go where the jobs are. there is  transportation out here in 
suffolk and nassau county, long island rail road,  local buses, etc. it all 
depends on where you live.
 
 
for the local bus, I pay 50 cents, for my access a  ride here, I pay $3 each 
way, that is from Melville to montauk point, and  everywhere in between. 
monday-saturday. a few draw backs unless you are on a  subscription plan for school 
or work you have to a call a week in advance for an  appointment. the 
services are better in the rest of the state becaus, Suffolk  county is on Suffolk 
County Transit and not the MTA, you see suffolk county is  treated like 
step-child, but we are the biggest county in the state of NY.  venting sorry.
 
anyway find a job first and then go from  there.
