Hello Deanna,
I did not get your contact information this weekend. Give me a call on my
cell phone so we can line up the show for tomorrow. Looking forward to the
interview about what NASA is doing for employment for the blind.
Best regards,

Subject: [Jobs] Blind Accountants
Hi everyone:
I wanted to know if anyone is aware of any blind accountants or finance
professionals who would be willing to speak with me and some individuals
from NASA management. I am the student programs manager for some of the
internship programs which includes the Workforce Recruitment Program. We're
in the final stages of placing and hiring students for the summer. Being
blind myself, I have experienced employment challenges that frustrated and
often infuriated me when on the side of searching for a job. But now that
I am on the other side of things, it is down right dismal and disheartening.
I am pushing for a number of very capable and competent blind students who
are majors in accounting and finance. The accounting hiring manager has
this notion that deaf students are better and how could the blind even
fathom being an accountant. This particular division has a abnormally large
deaf population. I now see why! My hope is to work with the hiring manager
and senior management to provide them resources which would include blind
professionals already in the field. If I weren't involved and advocating
for these blind students, at some level, I can totally see this particular
individual picking a student who is less qualified just to avoid having to
take a blind student.
I am becoming fully aware of how discrimination really happens to the best
of candidates. We still have so much work to be done.
Denna
