Job Announcement
The Governor's Council on Disability has an immediate opening for the
position of
Executive Director
Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Salary: $2093.00 to $2180.50 per pay period ($50,232 - $52,356
annually)
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Executive Director is a non-voting member and executive officer of the
Council with administrative, fiscal and supervisory responsibility for
coordinating, planning and implementing the activities of the Council. The
Council is a state agency with its primary mission to provide leadership in
improving the lives of Missouri citizens with disabilities. The Executive
Director must be knowledgeable about disability-related issues and have a
demonstrated commitment to full participation of people with disabilities in
all aspect of community life. The Executive Director reports to and is
supervised by the Governor's Council through the Chairperson of the Council
and is responsible to facilitate the board functions of Council members.
Specific duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director include (but
are not limited to) the following: (a) develop, direct and implement
policies, practices and systems adopted by the Council to improve the lives
of Missouri citizens with disabilities and expand their opportunities; (b)
coordinate with state agencies, private businesses and non-profit
organizations with respect to Council objectives, policies and initiatives;
(c) promote, supervise and administer Council programs; (d) develop, direct
and implement public advocacy and legislative initiatives as directed by the
Council; (e) develop and distribute information to assist Missouri citizens
with disabilities, including maintaining the Council website and related
links to affiliated organizations; and (f) serve as chief administrative
officer for the Council, supervising other Council workforce, preparing
related reports (including required annual report, budgets and accounting
information) and assisting with Council committees.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in
relevant area such as rehabilitation, public administration, special
education, non-profit management or related field, and prior administrative
or supervisory experience. Experience in legislative advocacy, policy
analysis, system change, and responsibility for budget administration in a
government or non-profit agency is preferred. The selected individual
should be knowledgeable about disability programs and policies and should
have strong communication, management, leadership and community
consensus-building skills. Some travel required.

feel Missouri citizens with disabilities are currently facing and describe
how you would lead efforts on behalf of the Council to resolve these issues.
