Here is an announcement for an opening at the Minnesota Academy for the Blind in Faribault, Minnesota.  Faribault is 
located forty-five miles south of Minneapolis, and is a town of approximately 20,000 people..


POSITION:		Computer/Technology Specialist
		      Special Teacher - Blind/Visually Impaired

LOCATION:		Minnesota State Academy for the Blind
			Faribault, Minnesota

DATE NEEDED:	As Soon as Possible
			Position Will Remain Open Until Filled

HOURS OF WORK:	7:30am-4:00pm, M-F (according to school calendar)

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1.	To provide training in the use of screen access technology (e.g., Window-Eyes and/or JAWS for Windows) 
and the nonvisual operation of mainstream applications  (e.g., Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook).

2.	To provide training in the use of non-visual note-taking devices and personal digital assistants designed for 
use by persons who are blind or visually impaired.

3.	To serve as a non-visual access technology expert for staff at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of and extensive experience with at least one screen access program for the blind; proficiency with Braille 
note-taking devices such as PAC Mate and/or Braille Note. Although preference will be given to those applicants that 
can obtain a Minnesota Teacher's License with blind/visually impaired certification, candidates who do not possess such 
certification will be considered.  However, Minnesota License with VI certification is required before permanent status 
can be obtained.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
Providing instruction to students so that they may progress satisfactorily; Preparing short and long-term goals and 
objectives for individual students through the IEP process; and Participating in student staffing, behavior program 
planning and parent conferences
              
SALARY:   $ 18.32-34.80/hour; $30,044-57,072/year depending on years of
experience and degree held.
