You might want to talk to Beth Finke, author of Long Time No See, an
autobiographical book about her diagnosis with diabetes and eventual
blindness. She is a free lance writer in Chicago and works at Easter
Seals.

Her number is 312-551-7174.

I also agree about publishing a book. I have heard it is hard. I have
been
trying to write a book on my experiences on RP and losing my vision at a
young age. Also, it would be nice to help others. So, good luck on
getting
books published.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth

David, One of your suggestions to Jeanne was to write a book about her
personal experiences and advice to others on how to help clients who
share
her situation. That sounds like a great idea except for one problem,
getting published is more of a hassle than the majority of people want
to
deal with. I'm a novelist who has been working on getting published for

years and I'm still trying. Many publishers are looking for memoirs if
they

have the kind of lives that sell in the world and some of them even
publish
memoirs if the author can suggest ways in which people with similar
afflictions can turn their situation around. Your offer was very
generous
but I thought that you should know that the publishing world is a tough
nut
to crack but to those who make it, the rewards are great! Judith
