Description: Provides lead staff support to the Fairfax Area Disability
Services Board located in the Pennino Building (Fairfax). Works to
address the needs of people with disabilities in the community. Develops
and directs disability-related initiatives. Advocates for individual and
broad disability rights. Serves as liaison with other local, state, and
national disability and human service organizations and with the
Department of Rehabilitative Services. Develops and monitors the program
budget, goals and outcomes. Writes reports and funding proposals. Makes
oral presentations to the Board and citizen groups. Supervises
professional staff and volunteers. Serves as ADA Coordinator for the
Department of Family Services. Participates in county planning,
evaluation, and project activities. Participates on inter- and
intra-agency teams. Analyzes and tracks legislation. This position
requires a flexible schedule to enable attendance at some evening and
weekend meetings.

 

 

Minimum

Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent
to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course
work in quantitative analysis, plus four years of progressively
responsible professional experience in business management. A masters
degree may be substituted for one year of required experience.

 

 

Special

Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to
complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective
Services Registry to the satisfaction of employer. Driver's license
required.

 

 

Preferred

Qualifications: Masters degree in human services, public administration,
public policy or a related field of study. Understanding of disability
issues. Experience in analysis and planning in employment,
transportation, housing, and/or community education as it relates to
persons with disabilities. Experience providing staff support to a
community board. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs. Strong
oral and written skills. 

 

 

Selection

Procedure: A written exercise and an oral presentation may be conducted
as part of the interview process.
