[Jobs] What to carry

Hello. I have a pretty slick black backpack that I carry to and from work
each day and my clients usually don't see that. I carry a backpack because
I like to do a lot of walking after work sometimes and it's easier to carry
my stuff with that. I sometimes carry the pack to meet with clients on the
road but will never carry it (I don't care how professional I thing it might
appear) to a work site or to an employer meeting. I have a leather
briefcase (I'm thinking about replacing it because it's getting old), a
laptop bag or I'll just use my Braille Note case if I know I won't need to
lug a lot of stuff. I also have a briefcase on wheels for the big carrying
days. I try to match my dress and what I carry to the environment. I think
some of the business world is taking a step down in dress requirements as
well as expectations about whether or not you carry a briefcase or pack or
whatever. It's best to learn about your city, who carries what where and
who dresses up well where. I'd never walk in to an office downtown to meet
with someone in sandals and a skirt and blouse. I might seriously consider
the pumps, suit or dress. I could do the sandals in a school though. Get
feedback about what people in your work environment are doing before you
decide on what to carryor wear.
