The Department of Public Instruction is currently seeking an Education
Administrative Director. The position is located at 1700 West State
Street, Janesville.
Job Duties
This position will serve as the Center Director of the Wisconsin Center
for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI) and will administer,
supervise, and
provide leadership for the operation of WCBVI including direct
responsibility for the school program (Wisconsin School for the Visually
Handicapped [WSVH]).
The Center Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to
the overall management of the Center that serves as a statewide
educational resource
to benefit all Wisconsin children who are blind or visually impaired. In
addressing this statewide leadership responsibility, the director works
collaboratively
with the DPI Special Education Team to coordinate efforts and provide
mutual support in areas of shared responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of visual impairment, its causes, effects, ramifications;
principles and instructional practices related to the education of
children who are
blind and visually impaired; the continuum of services available to
children who are blind or visually impaired; curriculum methods,
development, and implementation;
issues and trends in the education of children who are blind and
visually impaired; operations of residential school programs;
administering special education
programs; techniques for measuring outcomes of educational programming;
federal and state special education legislation; educational policies
and practices;
and good oral and written communications skills.

3) Oral and written communication such as responding to inquiries;
writing policies, procedures, and reports; planning, developing, and
presenting workshops
and other professional development activities; leading teams; and
facilitating meetings. Include the topic and the intended audience(s) of
the communication.
