The term "legally blind" connotes different things to different folks,
but in the world of Human Resources, Social Security, Vocational
Rehabilitation, etc. it means that a person meets at least the minimum
requirements to be considered blind in order to receive special
services, SSI/SSDI, etc. Someone with some residual vision may be
considered "legally blind" as can someone with no residual vision

Well done, my only remaining concern is using the term "legally blind"
usually implies to many of us that if one is a "total" don't bother to
apply. Is there some particular reason, perhaps "political
correctness" in
that environment that makes the legally blind phrase necessary?
I do understand that some partials are insulted to be called just
plain
blind!

Ok, Seville:
Take a look at this and my apologies to all. That's what I get for
being in a hurry.

Hmmm, is it legal to require someone to be able to read handwriting?
Seems to me that would leave out blind people; and it may be
deliberate
as visually impaired and "legally blind" are mentioned. What about
"reasonable accommodation" to read the handwriting?
I find it difficult to believe that reading the handwriting is an
"essential function". Seems that knowing what to do with the
handwriting or knowing what it means would be the real essential
function of this job.
