Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, has an opening for a
full-time Braille instructor in it's eight month training program
located in Baltimore.  Review the information below and, if you're

The Braille instructor performs the following duties.
 

1.   Provide Braille instruction to training center students. 

2.   Demonstrate use of nonvisual methods and positive attitude about
blindness to students.    

 

3.   Evaluate student's training needs and develop and implement weekly
teaching plans. 

4.   Write and submit all required reports and       evaluations in an
accurate, timely manner.     

      5.   Provide counseling about blindness.

    6.   Actively participate in seminars, student       staffings, and
student activities. 

7.   Participate in all rehab activities and seminars.

8.  Serve as a substitute teacher in other areas as        needed.

      9.  Work closely and harmoniously with co-workers       as an
integral part of a teaching team.

 

10. Assist with Special Programs as time permits.

11. Promote BISM and all training center programs. 

12. Other duties as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

1.   Bachelor's degree in a human service field or equivalent
experience.  

2.   Two to five years experience in teaching or another human service
field preferred.
