Jessica,

Of course there are blind folks working in this field. I think your
counselor needs to be connected with the community she purports to serve.

The first person who comes to mind for me is Jason Fayre, who
administered sprawling networks for several large Silicon Valley
corporations. He can be reached at the Colorado Center for the Blind.

The NFB has a large and active computer division which will meet in
Dallas and afford you many opportunities to, er, network with those
who run networks. I think your counselor may need this experience at
least as much as you do.

Finally, if your counselor just needs some quick online documentation
in order to justify that blind folks are employed in the field, the
Career Connect online system found at www.afb.org can quickly help
her document such activity in our field.

See you in Dallas,

Bryan Bashin

Hello:
My name is Jessica Silva.  I am a totally blind individual looking to obtain
her MCSE, (Microsoft computer systems engineer) certification, however, have
run into some problems with my counselor providing the funds for it.  She
believes there is no one who is blind with their MCSE who is employed,
therefore, I am trying to find someone who can contact me so I could ask
them a few questions, and they could possibly talk to my counselor.  also,
any network administrators tech support representatives or system
administrators, are people I would like to hear from as well, as they are
some jobs that someone with an MCSE primarily works in.  Thank all of you
for your time and I would appreciate anyone's help who could offer it.
Once again,
Thank you
Jessica Silva
