[Jobs] Hi

Hi there, Christina!

A couple of my friends feel the same way. They've told me that a lot of
those counselors don't really have the knowledge and experience working with
a blind person. I had to fight tooth and nail just to get O&M for my first
semester of college, just because I didn't have a job goal for him, and 3
informational interviews, and the bill for the semester, etc. etc. I'm not
too worried about it, though. I just have to show him what he needs to see.
The only thing is that he's told me that they won't support a job that isn't
current. What do I do about that? Man, I'd love to know where he gets his
info! I know where I got mine--from my school, and from the Occupational
Outlook handbook. My disability specialist at school told me about that
site, saying that a lot of BVR counselors use that to determine eligibility.
So I'm using his own weapon against him! I knew that martial arts training
was good for something! LOL smile

I was going to post this on the students list, but it could have meaning
here as well.

I'm looking into getting a minor in Spanish. Unfortunately, the language
department at my university has transissioned their learning into a very
visually-oriented format--I.e. videos, pictures, etc. Their theory is that
in order to learn a language, you have to be able to see what's going on,
etc., which is ridiculous. I had an idea that the prof could just describe
to me the relevant points, and I could give the correct responses. Here's
the catch. No English allowed after the first class or two. Any advice on
this one, guys?

TIA,
Chelsea
