MENTORING PROJECT COORDINATOR ­ ID# 26425.

Pacific Basin Rehabilitation Research and Training Center.  Regular,
Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with Pacific Basin
Rehabilitation
Research and Training Center (PBRRTC) for the Success Transition in
Diverse
Environments (STRIDE) Project located in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Continuation
of
employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory
work
performance, and availability of funds.

Minimum Monthly Salary: $2,929.00.

Duties: 

€ Collaboratively devises and implements annual overall program plan.

€ Participates in the development of mentor, mentor-in-training, mentee,
teacher and family or associated family structure educational activities
and
acknowledgement activities.

€ Assumes a lead role in exploring community collaborations and
developing
supplemental support services for youth.

€ Actively participates in the design, development and use of
appropriate
evaluation instruments and procedures and human subject review
procedures.

€ Collects, verifies, inputs, and analyzes data and assures
documentation of
events, meetings and procedures.

€ Establishes and maintains liaison among PBRRTC, the Vocational
Rehabilitation and Services to the Blind Division, collaborates closely
with
members of STRIDE Advisory Board and with the STRIDE team and principal
investigators.  Collaborators will include (but not limited to)
representatives from private and public organizations that serve youth
or
young adults with disabilities (i.e., the Hawaii Department of
Education,
the Department of Health, the University of Hawaii, state and private
vocational rehabilitation agencies, Hawaii Centers for Independent
Living
and other community agencies, Statewide Independent Living Council,
Hawai`i
Disability Rights Center, non-profit advocacy agencies for and by
persons
with disabilities, etc.) and other mentoring projects in the State of
Hawaii.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: 
€ Master¹s Degree from an accredited college or university in
Rehabilitation, Health, Education or Social Service related field
(Bachelor¹s Degree and four to six (4-6) years of documented work
experience
or training may substitute for Master¹s Degree).

Experience: 
€ Two to four (2-4) years of supervisory experience in rehabilitation,
human
services, personnel development, personnel management, higher education
or
adult education and experience in special project management or
community
organization.  
€ Hands-on or direct experience working in an agency that provides
services
to persons with disabilities for two to four (2-4) years.
€ Two (2) years of experience in research-based or evaluation project.
Experience in mentoring a project for youth and young adults.

Abil/Know/Skills: 
€ Working knowledge of vocational rehabilitation programs and services.
€ Must have knowledge of group process, collaborative planning and
team/project management.
€ Knowledge of computers and storage hardware; the use of computers in
electronic communication.
€ Excellent group and meeting facilitation and negotiation skills.
€ Excellent skills in using personal computers including word processing
software, spreadsheet, familiarity with PowerPoint and graphics, OCR
software, statistical and qualitative software, and use of the Internet
for
research and communication.
€ Skill in the use of computer software including its use in data
collection, entry, verification and analysis.
€ Must possess a valid driver¹s license and access to a reliable
vehicle.

Physical/Medical Requirements:
Able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds.

Desirable Qualifications:

€ Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Education,
Vocational
Rehabilitation, or social science fields.
€ Two (2) years experience in mentoring project for youth and young
adults
with disabilities in transition.
€ Knowledgeable of accommodations and alternative formats for persons
with
disabilities from diverse cultures and geographic areas in Hawaii.
