[IL-Talk] What Is the Apple Vision Pro? A Lifesaver for Disabled Users

This is an interesting product but I'm not sure if it is practical in its current state. The product will work with VoiceOver and even supports Braille displays. Some disadvantages include the cost, the fact that the battery pack is separate from the device requiring a cable connection, and the fact that the device doesn't yet support third-party applications written by and for the blind. I applaud Apple for including accessibility features, but I would wait and see if Apple comes out with a cheaper device. Virtual reality technology is in such a state of flux that I would wait and see which products have staying power. There are several mainstream and proprietary glasses and headsets which offer promising potential for blind users but aren't developed to the point where I would buy a product. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. My primary considerations would be the price of a device, and the support for blindness applications. I think this technology is exciting, but I am going to wait and see where things develop from here.

Dan
