Hi everyone, i don't know if it is already protocol here at the il-
talk mailing list, but i would like to suggest that when we send,
forward, or reply messages to il-talk, we use the option in all major
email service providers called "Bcc". It means "blind carbon copy" and
when you put the name or e-mail address of whoever you are sending an
email to into the "Bcc" field rather than into the "To" field, their e-
mail address won't be shown to any of the other recepients who you are
sending the e-mail to. I suggest this for 2reasons.
First, all postings on il-talk (and a lot of mailing lists and other
forums on the internet) are openly accessible to anyone who knows
where it is. For example, my post today which was forwarded from
another public forum, can be directly accessed at this address: http://www.nfbnet.org/pipermail/il-talk_nfbnet.org/2010-March/011182.html
So when google and other search engines eventually crawl over that
web address, it will show up in any search result that anyone in the
world seeks if they type in a name or word that is on that page.
Secondly, when i skim through my il-talk digest, especially on my
phone, all the "to's" and "from's" and other info that is not part of
the message, make it hard to find the actual message in a long page.
I don't want to sound like a pain, but that is my suggestion, but i AM
asking, not just suggesting, anyone who includes my name in anything
sent to a public site, to always keep my info in the Bcc field.
Thank you all
