If you're going via bus, you need to connect into the 151 Sheridan bus. Steve Hastalis advised me that the 156 does not run on Saturdays. For those of you who are energetic, you can walk from the Fullerton "L" stop for both the red and brown line trains. You will need to walk seven blocks east.
If you take the 151, you will get off at Stockton and Webster. That is the main Zoo entrance.
We will meet by no later than noon. If you are not there by noon, we will go to the picnic area by the Landmark Cafe. If you arrive late, please give me a call on my cell phone (773) 860-7286 and someone will come and meet you at the main gate if need be.
There are several restaurants in the zoo: Big Cats Cafe, Cafe Brauer (apparently you can get beer there), Safari Cafe and the Park Place Cafe. Of course, you can bring your own picnic lunch. Here is the link to check out the resaturants: http://www.lpzoo.org/info/plan_your_visit/restaurants.php. For those of you who are driving, here is the link for parking: http://www.lpzoo.org/info/plan_your_visit/location.php.
And service animals are welcome, here is the link for that. And here is the link explaining the information for service animals: http://www.lpzoo.org/info/plan_your_visit/accessibilty.html. (I apologize for the earlier misinformation.
The zoo is accessible.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me off-list.
