I would like to thank the many members of the NFB who attended the PACE
hearings during the past two weeks. By my count, we had more than a dozen
people who went to one or more of the hearings at various sites in or 
close
to Chicago. Those that told me of their attendance or those that I saw
include Carmen Dennis, Ken Schad, Debbie Pittman, Connie Davis, Bryan
Johnson, Ronza Othman, David Meyer, Patti Chang, Denise Avant, Mary
Grunwald, Marco Gianotti, Kate Mayer, and Mary Anne Sullivan. Several 
of you
gave testimony on how important good, reliable, affordable public
transportation is for us to maintain our independence. You were 
speaking for
all of us!

As a side note, the National Federation of the Blind of Illinois did get
mentioned as being represented by me at last night's meeting in Arlington
Heights.

I would like to encourage all of you to once again contact your state
legislators and the governor concerning SB572. This is supposed to be 
a most
crucial time.
