Subject: [Sportsandrec] San Jose results
Good afternoon Listers,
Last week I sent out a press release concerning a judo camp and judo
tournament in California. I am pleased to announce the results of the
tournament.
Nine blind judo athletes participated in one of the largest tournaments in
the country with approximately 700 to 800 athletes.
Ron Hawthorne of Kansas City took first place in the white to green belt
division.
Christella Garcia of Chicago, and Sports and Rec's very own VP, took the
silver medal in her very first judo tournament.
Andre Watson of Philidelphia took third in the brown belt division.
And, Myles Porter took a bronze medal in the open division. Myles is
currently training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Congratulations to all that competed. I hope that this division continues to
support and send good wishes to all of these athletes in their attempt to
qualify for Beijing in 2008.

Sports and Recreation Division of the
National Federation of the Blind
