Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 7:00
pm,
Generose Enrichment Center, Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road,
Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Contest Rules
Contest is open to all high school students.
Entrants may submit one piece of writing in each of two categories, poetry
and
fiction.
Prizes will be awarded for each of the two categories, poetry and fiction:
Scholarship winners must be admitted to and attend Silver Lake College as
full-time
undergraduate students to redeem the scholarships. The scholarship may be
renewed up to three subsequent years contingent on remaining full-time, in
good
academic standing and participating regularly in English Department
activities
(English Club, Silver Reflections magazine, etc.). Scholarships may not be
won more
than once.
First Prize: $2,500 renewable scholarship (2 awards). First prize winners
will also
receive $75 and have their writing published in Silver Reflections, the
literary
magazine of Silver Lake College.
Second Prize: $1500 renewable scholarship (2 awards); $50 (2 awards).
Third Prize: $1000 renewable scholarship (2 awards); $25 (2 awards).
For each entry the following must be submitted:
Four (4) typed copies of each entry.
Multi-page entries must be stapled in the upper left corner. Do not staple
all four
copies together.
The entrantâs name and other identifying information must not be present on
the
literary work itself.
One cover page with the following information (Fill out and print an
official
cover
sheet):
Entrantâs name
Title of the work
High school
Expected date of high school graduation
Anticipated major in college
Home mailing address
Home phone number
E-mail address.
Please do not staple cover sheet to submission.
Submissions may be dropped off at the Silver Lake College Information Desk
or
mailed to:

Manitowoc, WI 54220-9319
Submissions must be postmarked by Friday, February 1, 2008.
Handwritten pieces will not be judged.
Late submissions will not be judged.

and web format) should the entry win first prize.
Entries will not be returned.
