Good Day,
I am a clinical social worker in Florida. I worked in a program with children for 20 years. Although I do not know the software program you mentioned, it would be a good idea to have your Blind Services counselor to get an adaptive engeneer to make sure that you can be successful with that aspect of the work. I have worked with them extensively over the years as these programs have evolved.
Children are curious and want to know this new person who is different, much like they feel different. In my experience I never had a child run away or become violent, often I was called on to help deescalate an upset child or teen. I recall a 14 year-old who had run to the building lobby. I asked for his help to go to the quiet room. He allowed me to follow his elbow, I held it quite lightly as I usually do when doing sighted guide, so he took control of the situation and changed from the escaper to the helper.
I am available if you have any specific questions.

Subject: [HumanSer] Advice and assistance
Hello! I am a master in social work student in Florida and currently in the process of getting my practicum placement at a school. I am reaching out to see if anyone has used the Frontline focus and peer systems?
Also was wondering if anyone can give me any tips/tricks on how usually handle dealing with accommodations from your administrator? What kind of accommodations have you asked for/received? Also how did you deal with students that have issues behaviorally in terms of running away or lashing out? Looks like I=E2=80=99ll be going to be placed in the elementary or hig= h school setting.
