[GUI-Talk] removing and re-adding an account in outlook

Hi all,
A few weeks ago I was having trouble adding my gmail account in outlook and I
mentioned on another list that I'd added an Imap account before as I added my
outlook.com account manually and another list member replied telling me that an
account should never have to be added manually and that all Microsoft email
accounts use Exchange. I did reply and asked him but he (or any other list
members) didn't answer me; should I remove and re-add my outlook.com account as
an Exchange account and if so will I loose all of my data (I've never had any
luck importing a PST file)? If I'd loose all of my data then I won't do this but
if I won't then I might. I'm using the latest version of M365; thanks for any
thoughts/insight that anyone can provide me,
