[GUI-Talk] setting for opening the lid of a laptop and having everything open

Depending on some of the configuration, you can sometimes do this with the 
hibernate feature. Go into settings and into the power section and make it 
so that closing the lid will put the computer in hibernate. then when you 
open the computer it should come out of hibernation and all the programs 
will be there. Sleep also works to do this but in my experience, sleep does 
not always manage the battery very well.
