Hello Christo,

I am currently using JAWS 2019 and Firefox.  I will try NVDA.

As to the iOS app, sometimes you must double tap several words from the word bank to specify an answer.  Once I do this, and double tap “check” it seems to show an error.  If I am required to pick only one button, then the app works.  It gives me trouble when I am required to hit several words from the word bank.  I am using iOS 12.4 on an iPhone X.

I use Duolingo on the website and I use the app to learn Norwegian. I can do both things which are giving you problems. Which screen reader do you use? I use NVDA and I can activate the buttons of the word bank in the normal way by either pressing the Spacebar or the NVDA+Numpad Enter combination. I used Firefox before, but am now using Chrome and both work equally well, but Chrome brings an additional feature: you get asked to speak into the microphone so that your pronunciation can be checked. Just be aware that there will be two unlabelled graphics to use: the first activates the microphone and the second speaks the text that you have to speak. I use the app on an iPhone. I started using it on an old iPhone 5C using iOS 8 at the time and am now using iOS 12.4 on and iPhone 6 and the app works the same. I double-tap on the buttons of the word bank which activates them. Generally I use a Bluetooth keyboard which just makes text entry a whole lot easier.

So, bottom line: it all works fine for me once you are used to its quirks, but I have no idea why it might not be working for you. Could it be that the interface differs between languages? I don't think that is likely.

Well, It is one of the greatest language learning tools I have come across and I really hope you find a way to use it.

By the way, I have also learnt Spanish, but long before the app even existed. First I taught myself from a book and then I studied it at university. What a beautiful language! Languages are a passion for me. Spanish is by far the easiest language in my opinion that I have learnt.

This works.

The other option is called the word bank option.  This gives you several words, and you tap on the words that make up the English translation of the sentence.  This does not work on the Windows web site, nor on the iOS application.

First, I know how you feel. it's really hard to explain how access technology reads or doesn't read things to those who don't use it.

When you say Dualingo doesn't recognize the button pushes, what do you mean?

I've never used any iOS programs before. If you tell me how JAWS sees it, I can help you explain it to others on the site.

web site and iOS application to learn Spanish.  While I can answer the questions on the web site, using Firefox and Windows 10, with difficulty, it can be done.

I am unable to answer the questions using the Duolingo iOS application.  For example, if you must translate the phrase "el hombre" into English, the answer is "the man".  In the application, you are given several words that are buttons.  You must hit the "the" button and the "man" button.  The application does not recognize these two button pushes.

I have not found a way to contact the developers from the web site nor from the application.

I have not found a clear way to ask the question on the AppleVis
