[gui-talk] FW: Mozilla problem

Other folks' experience is that if they roll FF back, it will update itself.
There is a business version of Firefox, called the ESR version, that
releases updates more slowly, but it also is expected to be incompatible
with older screen readers by next March. It's time to do a combination of: a
different screen reader and other browsers. If you can't get JAWS for some
reason, take a serious look at NVDA, and using it with synthesizers other
than ESpeak. One synth that works with NVDA under Windows 7 is the Microsoft
Speech Platform Zera or Helen voices. They are not as responsive as
Eloquence, but they're not too bad. If you have Windows 10, NVDA gives you a
few more choices.
Window-Eyes is still useful for many programs. But its usefulness with web
browsers is coming to an end.

Thank you very much for that information. Is there a way where I can go back
to the old FF? But I guess if I did, it would automatically upadate itself
and I am back with the old problem again.

My understanding is that Window Eyes will no longer work with the latest
version of Firefox, FF 57. This is great news for VFO, which is licking its

chops to get remaining WE hangers-on to finally switch to JAWS. However,
only the latest version of JAWS, JAWS 18.0.4321, will work with FF 57,
although JAWS 2018, which is scheduled for public release on Oct. 24, should

work with it, also. So you better think seriously about switching to JAWS
sooner rather than later. Otherwise, your only alternative would be to
switch to NVDA as your primary screen reader. A few members of other lists
have reported that it works with FF 57.

A few days ago, Firefox automatically updated itself. Since then, I can only
tab down a webpage but cannot arrow down it. If any of you had this problem,
how did you correct it? I have Windows Seven and use W/E 95.4.

Is Google Chrome accessible?
