Rob,

If you are getting speech out of your sound card and the volume of speech is 
good, then your sound card volume is
likely already turned up pretty well.  In addition to your sound card's 
volume, the volume of various other sound
sources can be regulated independently.  For example, if you are listening 
to music through Windows Media Player,
it is possible to turn down the volume of the music without turning down the 
volume of the speech from your screen
reader.  The volume control of your sound card will likely turn everything 
up and down together, although there are
independent controls for some devices.  The chances are that the volume 
associated with the player used by the web
site is lower than it should be and that there is a volume control 
associated with the player that is used.  It is
most likely that getting at that volume control will be necessary, but we 
are making educated guesses on this.
