Beth:
Once Windows is fully up, hit Alt+R (alt Key and R at the same time) to
bring up the RUN box. Then type in
SNDVOL
Wait a few seconds for the program to come up. Then tab once. This will put
you on the "Mute Speakers and Headphones" button. Hit the spacebar. If
somehow your speakers got muted, this should unmute them.
Note: This works in Windows 7. I don't know what the command is in Windows 8
or later.

Subject: [gui-talk] can no longer get sound and speech on my computer
Hi, folks.
I was working on my PC when I think I inadvertently hit a key on the
keyboard, and it must have muted the sound. I have restarted it several
times, and can tell that Windows is running, and the speaker is working all
right. I think when I accidentally knocked that key, I somehow muted the
sound. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get it back" thanks.
