[gui-talk] Another cable question

Time Warner offers at least a half dozen different remote control units.
However, they offer one remote upon request that has large,
well-differentiated buttons for visually impaired customers. Each button on
the mumeric keypad is shaped like the numeral it represents, so that it is
easy to navigate by touch. The only buttons on the remote I am interested
in are the power button for the TV (the top left button), channel up and
down, volume up and down, mute, last channel button and numeric keypad
buttons. I don't bother with the menu buttons because I can't see the
onscreen options , anyway. Your remote should be programmed to operate the
power on/off, muting and volume functions of your particular TV. If you
can't program the remote yourself, call Time Warner customer service,
explain to them that you are blind and need help programming the remote. If
necessary, insist that they send a technician to your home to program the
remote for you and show you how to use it. If they give you a hard time,
explain to the agent that under the Telecommunications Act of 2010, they are
required to make their equipment accessible, and if they refuse to send a
technician to help you program and learn the remote, you will file a
complaint against them with the FCC. This usually works for me.
