[gui-talk] Unable to Locate Search Edit Field On Amazon.com Home Page Using Firefox

The subject line sums it up. Using Firefox 29 with JAWS 9 under XP, I cannot locate the search edit field on the Amazon.com home page, or at least the page that comes up when I go to www.amazon.com using Firefox. So there is apparently no way to perform a product search from this page. If I click on the first link on the Amazon.com home page which accesses the version of Amazon optimized for screen readers, there is a search edit field on that page. But I find the optimized version of Amazon to be less than satisfactory for my purposes because search results are limited to only five results per page, and there are no overall product ratings listed for each product. When I access the Amazon.com home page using Internet Explorer 8, I can easily locate the search edit field by pressing "E", the JAWS command for locating edit fields. The problem with accessing Amazon.com using IE 8 is that lately JAWS sometimes seems to hang and lose speech on some results pages, or the pages don't load completely. So accessing Amazon.com with IE 8 has become an exercise in frustration. Can anyone explain how to access the search edit field on the Amazon.com home page using Firefox? Is there some setting in Firefox that needs to be changed in order to make the search edit field magically reappear on the Amazon.com home page? Or am I just missing something? Thanks.

Gerald
