Have you looked on the Avast web site for a clearing tool? Norton used to
have one for NAV.

Subject: [gui-talk] Seeking Advice Re. Uninstalling Avast

Good evening all,

The story begins with a notification on my wife's PC that the one year free
trial of Avast was about to expire and she asked me to step in and
troubleshoot the situation. I decided to replace Avast with Microsoft
Security Essentials (MSSE) because it is effective, efficient, nonintrusive,
and freee, which I view as the least important criteria. It seemed
appropriate to uninstall avast to avoid getting false positives when
scanning the HD for viruses and malware. However, the add/remove programs
module in Win7 is unable to remove Avast. Now as an additional unintended
consequence my wife is unable to send or receive email. Now for the
questions.

1. Does anyone advise removing Avast or let it be.

2. In researching the matter I discovered a utility called AvastClear.
Is this utility, effective, safe to use, and accessible to JAWS 15? IF not,
does anyone commend a different and better third party application removal
utility?

3. Is it likely to have caused settings to be changed in Outlook, or
is the emailproblem totally unrelated and needs a different solution?

TIA and best regards,

Rob "Jayhawk Bob" Tabor
