Subject: [gui-talk] Libre Office and JAWS

Hello again everyone,

Following up with my idea of going to open-source software and the possibility of using Linux on my next PC I downloaded and installed Libre Office for Windows V4.0 on our Windows 7 Home Premium machine. Generally Jaws reads the screens all right but I cannot activate the menu bar or the context menus. I'm glad to see that Libre Office uses the standard menu bar but cannot figure out why I cannot activate it with JFW. We're running JFW
14 on that machine. It seems to me that we had a similar issue with Open Office when we gave that one a test-drive as well. The creators of Libre Office go on about their commitment to accessibility but they need to back up their claims with results.

Since LO is a cross-platform office suite we figured that it would be great to learn to use it before adopting Linux so decided to download and install the Windows version. Luckily we still have good old MS Office 2010 to fall back on so we're not out an office suite on that machine. Any work-arounds beyond a thorough knowledge of LO'S keyboard shortcuts or the use of an accessibility helper application to fix this problem will be very much a appreciated.
